Catholic Website Fourth In UK Christian Blog and Web Awards 2007

A Catholic website has been judged one of the best in the UK by judges in a competition which aims to recognise outstanding Christian blogs and websites.

www.life4seekers.co.uk came fourth in the "Creative" category in the Premier Christian Radio sponsored competition. There were over 200 entries in this particular category alone.

The Life4seekers site has been created and developed by the Catholic Agency to Support Evangelisation (CASE); which is an agency of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales. The resource aims to provide a 'shop window' into Catholic life and beliefs as an online expression of the work of the Catholic Enquiry Office, also run by CASE. This office is mainly reliant on donations.

Premier Christian Radio presenter, Maria Toth, commented about the site: "Life4Seekers presents the Gospel message in a contemporary way, making it relevant to those who are curious about a relationship with Christ; this is done by embracing our media savvy culture looking at the moral element in films, for example, but not compromising or watering down the faith in the process.”

She added: "Presenting testimonies of those who've been on a quest for meaning provides a point of reference for those questioning life's purpose, and in doing so attempts to address and satisfy the desire of every human to be loved by pointing to God in a non confrontational manner."

Meanwhile CASE Director, Mgr Keith Barltrop said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the results and are very grateful to the judges for their recognition of the work our team has put into this project. We are also indebted to our web designers at www.imdc.co.uk for their outstanding creative contribution.”

He added: "The internet is a powerful tool of evangelisation and I encourage every Catholic parish and group to consider having an online presence. It presents itself to us as a visual pulpit and CASE has website guidelines available to support anyone wanting to explore using this technology to share the Gospel message. Please do contact us if we can be of service and see www.caseresources.org.uk for a host of other resources."

Life4seekers also came fifth in the "Newcomer" category and one of the ecumenical sites that CASE works in support of, www.rejesus.co.uk , won first place in the ‘Most Successful Evangelistic Blog or Website’ category.

A special awards ceremony took place on 21st September at ‘the Internet Church’, St Stephen Walbrook in London.  Catholic parishes, groups and organisations are encouraged to enter next year's competition which offers a top prize of £1000 cash. The categories vary from 'Best Church Website' to 'Best Provision for Youth Blog or Website'. For more information please see: www.christianblogawards.com.
