Artist's interpretation of the painting: At the Last Supper Jesus gave to his Church the sacred rite of the Eucharist, through which his once-for-all sacrifice on Calvary could be re-presented and offered for sinner through all ages to come. 'It is by God's will that we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all' (Heb 10:10).
